Last October, a couple of us here at DTR caught the Type O Negative show at Nokia Theater and if you know me well, you know I am a fan. William Herck, photographer,  accompanied us and while he wasn't 'on the job,' the minute the band hit the stage, he displayed a look in his eye. In a half panic, he patted down his jacket and trousers and alas! He did have something to shoot with. Herck then disappeared into the mass of bodies and heavy, loud, intoxicating music to capture some art. Meanwhile, up on stage, Steele seemed disconnected. To me, things on stage didn't feel familiar. But I brushed it off as Steele offered the audience a statement that keyboardist and band mate, Josh Silver couldn't perform at the show because he was currently in school working towards his certification as a paramedic. Despite this, Steele proceeded to entertain. As he continuously made negative gestures about how uncomfortable he was in his very own skin and looks, it hit me. One thing will always ring true for Peter Steele. He truly did belong on a stage and up there he was eerily beautiful under those slimey, green stage lights.  RIP  - edie
